I am a second generation Commercial Hot Air Balloon Pilot. I grew up in Glens Falls, New York and always enjoyed when the Adirondack Balloon Festival came to town. My parents friend, Jerry owned a balloon, and he would bring the balloon to the festival every year. My parents would wake me up early in the morning and we would go chase the balloon all around the countryside. When I was in college Jerry gave the balloon to his son Jason, who lived in Vermont. Jason started coming over to our area to fly every weekend and we began to crew for him on a regular basis. After graduating college I decided that I wanted to get my pilots license and I spent 6 weeks in Pheonix, Arizona receiving my Private Pilot Certificate. In July 2019, I completed my Commercial Certification.
Mark is my dad. He’s half of the reason that I’m involved in ballooning. He is a US Navy veteran, and always wanted to be a pilot. After I told my parents that I wanted to become a pilot, my dad decided that he wanted to pursue his life long dream...so as any father and son would do, we made a friendly competition out of it. Mark received his Commercial Pilots License in July 2018, and takes pride in the fact that we try to fly every month of the year.
Mary is my mother. She is the reason that I love Hot Air Ballooning. My mother became involved in ballooning in the mid 1980's. When I was growing up she would look forward to the balloon festival every year, and all of the fun times that would follow. My mom can be found with us on almost every flight. She has a real passion for the sport of ballooning, and has plenty of great stories to tell about all of her ballooning experiences.
